Whether you’re a first-time actor or a seasoned performer, we welcome you to our stage. The diversity of our participants is a key part of what makes Theatre on the Ridge so successful. From your first audition to the final curtain call, our production team is here to support you. If you're worried about memorizing lines or stage fright, don't let that hold you back! With weeks of rehearsals, your role and character will soon feel like second nature.

Typically productions require 5-8 weeks of rehearsal. Cast members rehearse 3-4 hours a night 4 or 5 times a week. There are 8-12 performances.

For each production, the director decides whether auditions are required. At Theatre on the Ridge, we strive to cast our shows months in advance. If you spot a production on our schedule that interests you and don’t see audition details posted, don’t hesitate to reach out! Many of the talented individuals you see on our stage started by simply asking, “How can I get involved?” We’re always eager to connect with passionate people who want to be part of the magic.

Backstage

There are countless ways to get involved at Theatre on the Ridge, even if you’re not a performer! Explore the various behind-the-scenes opportunities here.

Stage Crew

Get a close look at the action behind the scenes! As part of the stage crew, you’ll help with special effects, set changes, props, and costume changes. It’s a fun way to be part of the magic of live theatre without being on stage. Time Commitment: Final week of rehearsals (tech week), all scheduled performances, and strike.

Costume Construction

Our costume volunteers play a key role in making the costumes that bring our characters to life. Whether you're experienced or just starting out, you can help. From small alterations to full costume creations, there's a task for everyone. Time Commitment: Flexible based on your availability and the costume shop hours for each production.

Set Construction

If you like building and painting, the set construction team is a great fit! Volunteers help the Set Designer build and paint the set. It’s a great chance to learn basic carpentry and painting, with training available for beginners. Time Commitment: Typically weekdays from 10 am to 5 pm, with occasional evening or weekend workdays.

Front of House

The Front of House volunteers provide a friendly and enthusiastic welcoming atmosphere as patrons arrive at the theatre for a performance.

Concessions

We need two volunteers to manage our concessions at each performance, covering both pre-show and intermission. At least one volunteer should be certified to serve alcohol (beer and wine). If you have RBS certification from California, that’s great; if not, we can help you find resources to get certified. Volunteering comes with the perk of watching the performance for free! Time Commitment: Approximately 3+ hours per performance, which includes arriving 45 minutes before the show begins and watching the performance.

Raffle Tickets

We need one volunteer to sell raffle tickets at each performance. This is a pre-show activity only. Volunteering comes with the perk of watching the performance for free! Time Commitment: Approximately 3+ hours per performance, which includes arriving 45 minutes before the show begins and watching the performance.
